Running is optional, fun is compulsory

Gyms, personal trainers, running groups, etc…this is made for you.
Schools…Chalkies time to run like a 12 year old heading to lunch break.
Health and first responders…rushing to save people is important but this takes it to a new level.
Tradies…release your Village People construction worker look and represent the trades.
Hospitality…your industry is all about speed and efficiency. Time to transfer that to the track.
And to everyone else…come along. Guaranteed to be a fun event.
Entry is free with donations appreciated, and teams can be changed on the day
We would love to see as many teams—junior or senior—as possible taking part in this community event, which will be held just prior to the presentation on the Alstonville High School Oval.

5. Most of all have fun – dress up and promote your business or sporting club. Local bragging rights are at stake!
Course Details
The 5km track follows a footpath from the Alstonville High School oval until its end on Lismore Road in Wollongbar, then back again. This course is repeated for the 10km event. The path is wheelchair accessible, and parent-guided bikes with handles can be used, however participants are advised that the course contains multiple steep inclines and descents. Push bikes of any kind are not permitted.
About
The Alstonville Wollongbar Fun Run is a great family event, where the Plateau community can come together to support their local schools by partaking in a variety of events ranging from the family friendly Walk and 1km, to the challenging 5km and 10km races.
The Alstonville Wollongbar Fun Run is organised by the P&C committees of the three schools, and takes place starting at Alstonville High School, with the course following the cycle track to Wollongbar and back.
There are five events: the 10km run, 5km run, 5km walk, 1km kids run and the community relay. The Alstonville Wollongbar Fun run provides a great challenge for keen runners, but is still suitable for social entrants.
Community Involvement

All community assistance is greatly appreciated by the staff and P & C members of the affiliated schools, and by all participants. It would also be great to have music along the path to Wollongbar, as well as back at the school. If you would like to be a part of this please register using the above link for volunteers, or see Mr Fox (TAS) (Andrew.fox1@det.nsw.edu.au).
The Community Hub
With many spectators, community members, and entrants to occupy during the event, the Community Hub will feature stalls and activities from all sorts of community groups that make our region the amazing place that it is. We have confirmation from the Alstonville Soccer Club, The Blood Bank, Northern Rivers Animal Shelter, along with activities run by Alstonville High School students. We have sent out communication to various clubs and hope to see as many there as possible. We don’t want to miss anyone so please email Andrew.fox1@det.nsw.edu.au, or message us on Facebook if you are interested in contributing.
Training Program
A training program to help all participants prepare for the 5km and 10km races has been developed by Accredited Exercise Physiologist Katie Crosby to help you to perform at your best on the day. Please access it as a pdf here.
